First training run

Last night was the first day of Atlantic City Half Marathon training at the Y.  Today was the first day of actual running.  It's always exciting the first week of training.  The anticipation, the goal setting.

Sadly, all I keep thinking about is the heat.  I hate the heat (have I ever mentioned that?).  But, a fall race means starting training in the summer.  Bah!  So, out today at 10:00 a.m. in 85 degree heat to run 30 minutes.  I believe the car said it was 91 when I got back in.

It wasn't the best 30 minutes I've ever run.  I had to walk a bit more than I wanted.  My left knee kinda hurt.  But, I got out there.  Ran more than I walked.  And stayed the course the whole 30 minutes.

Hanging out at home now with frozen broccoli on my knee and watching Dr. Who with some cold water.  Gotta protect the body if I want to run.

  1. I think you and your husband are gluttons for punishment.....crazy mud runs, work all nighters, half marathon training. Oh my. More power to you both for doing it all. I'm envious at your stamina....really.
