After months of ignoring the scale, I decided to face it head on.  Ugh.  It isn't as bad as I anticipated, but gaining 10 pounds is not pleasant. It also explains the pants/jeans not fitting as well as they did.

So, what does this mean?  It means I know where I am. 23 pounds over my goal weight.  It means I have 3.5 months to move the scale in the downward direction to hopefully reach goal or close to it by December 31st.

I'm back to logging what I eat.  I need to get better at that and working out, but it's a work in progress.  I have that pesky half marathon coming up in October.  Then I have two months of being able to pick races for fun.  Hopefully this helps motivate me to get my butt in gear!

Again

How many times have I said I'm getting back on the wagon this year?  Too many to count I would guess.  But, here I am again.  Monday afternoon saying it again.  And this time, I mean it people.  I have let things slide too much.  Eating crap, not exercising.  It's got to stop.  I'm not happy with myself and I'm not happy with what's happened.  I've gained a good 10 pounds again and that's not acceptable.  It's not.  So, I weighed in this morning to see the damage and I don't like what I see.  Not...one....bit.  So, it's back to tracking.  It's back to making healthy meals.  It's back to NOT just grabbing something on the go because it's easy.  It's back to exercising, even if it's hot out.  There are things I can do that don't involve the outside until the heat calms down.  If I want to be happy with myself, I need to start eating healthy and exercising.  I am not happy with what I've let happen over the last few months and IT ENDS TODAY.

So, I will be weighing in on Friday to see how the week went.  I'm hoping for a three pound loss between now and Friday.  I am sure I can do it.  I'm not going to be happy with what the scale says at that point, but it's better than what it says this morning.  I need to make some goals for the end of the month and through the end of the year.  And I need to stick to them.  I'm awful at sticking to it, but I HAVE to.  I had such high hopes for this year and only the photography part of it is going the right way.  So, I'm going to take that momentum (for the business) and expand it to other parts of my life, namely the weight loss and exercise part.  And it will work.  I WILL do this.  I WILL loose the weight.

It WILL end up being a good 2010!

The Do Over Experiment

Sunday was the first day of getting back on tract. Worked well. I didn't eat the way I should have, meaning there was no real breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I was within points for the day. Sometimes it just doesn't work the way you think it will. I got up late, which was fine, I needed the sleep. I decided to just wait for lunch since it seemed silly to eat breakfast, then lunch so close together. But, I started doing things around the house and lost track of time. LOL! Grabbed some crackers and cheese about 2:00 p.m. Nothing exciting, but something small as we were heading out to dinner with my hubby's parents. Then I kept doing things around the house, so I wasn't too tempted to eat anything else.

We headed out to dinner at a local deli/restaurant and I had a yummy Larkspur (all the menu items are named after birds). A Larkspur is Muenster and Cheddar cheese, spinach, tomato and sprouts on a tortilla with Ranch/Mayo dressing. Sooo good! It's 8 points, so that's why I was trying to be conservative with my points early in the day. Wanted to make sure I had enough for dinner. :-) I also had the potato chips that came with it. They were good. I did resist the delicious Pepper Jack Tomato Soup they have. I was the only one. :-(

After dinner, I made myself a yummy dessert! A slice of sugar-free angel food cake with Reddi Whip and crushed pineapple. It was WAY better than I thought it would be. Very, very happy with the results. It was delicious.

So, getting back into the swing of things wasn't too bad, even with eating out. I didn't exercise though. Kinda resting on my 5k laurels. LOL! Maybe I shouldn't have, but eh. It happens. Hoping this bodes well for the rest of the week.

Jingle Bell 5k Update and Another New Start

Yesterday, hubby and I ran in the Jingle Bell 5k in Harrisburg, PA. It went really well. Temps were below 32 degrees, not sure what they were though. On the way home, the weather people said the temp was 33, so I know when we started it was colder. We both had great runs! The course was a loop, which was both good and bad. Good since once you looped back, you knew exactly where you were and how much further to go. Bad because when you hit the turn around point, you STILL had another loop to do. LOL! Especially if you're slow like me and the winners passed you before you HIT the turn around point. Ah well. Had a great run in fairly good weather, outside it being cold. The sun was out and the road was dry, which was very helpful. There were two pretty steep hills to overcome...twice. Hubby had a great run at 24 minutes and change! One of his very best. :-) I was about mile 2 when he finished. LOL! And the funny thing was, I knew it too. I hit the mile 2 marker and thought to myself, B should be finishing about now. :-) I finished later than him (obviously) at 38:30ish. This is a HUGE improvement for me over my last 5k. Last 5k was a 42 and change. :-) Must have been the colder temps. Up, that's it. But, it was a great time for me and I'm really happy to finish off my first year of racing with a sub-40 minute 5k. And for fun, hubby and I after the race with the Hershey Chocolate Bar:

And now onto starting over. Been having a rough couple of weeks with the holidays. Need to get back on tract, so I am re-focusing this week on the WW plan. Need to get my butt in gear. I won't loose anything this month, but I can limit the damage. So, back to the plan today. We're eating dinner out tonight, but I know where we're eating and know exactly what to have to stay on tract. The rest of the week, we should be good eating in. It WILL be a good week.

A New Start

It is Sunday night (ok, technically Monday morning) and I am psyched. I have had a good weekend, though I have had a sad couple of weeks. As I've written earlier, my too-small ring now fits and a shirt I purchased last summer now fits. Well, now I have more happy news. The weather here in the northeast was warm this weekend - according to the weather report tonight, temps made it to 90. Really. 90. When does it get to 90 degrees in April? Oops. I digress. So, with warm temps and baseball tickets in hand, I needed (obviously) short sleeve shirts and capris. I grabbed some from last summer and started on clothes. I was thrilled when my capris fit without being snug. I generally have issues the first try-on of the season. Then I moved onto t-shirts. I tried on a cute blue cotton tee with a pretty pattern on the front. This shirt has never fit. The matching jacket does, but not the tee. It fit! And to celebrate, I wore it to the game. :) I was THRILLED!

So, with the high of my capris fitting and wearing clothing that has never fit, I am officially recommitting myself to my healthy eating and exercise routine. I've sad that the last two Sunday nights, but I'm so happy with really seeing results that I'm motivated to stop eating sweets and go back to Lenten actions. I can do this! I have 12 weeks to loose approximately 16 pounds. It will be a challenge, but it's doable!
