Well, there's just two more weeks of Lent to go. Kinda hitting the home stretch, if you will. It has not been the most successful of Lents to date, but it's not been the worse either.
1. No Meat: Totally fine with this one. Not one day I where I've eaten meat. It's almost too easy.
2. No Commercial Sweets: This has not gone so well. I will say there has been a drastic cut-back on the amount of commercial sweets I've consumed this Lent. Though in the past I have made all 40 days without sweets. :-( But, it's been reduced to one or two a week, which in comparison to pre-Lent sweets levels is pretty darn good! And I make a batch of cookies, that was the whole point of this resolution - Oatmeal Coconut Heath cookies. Oh so good!
3. Exercise 30 Minutes Every Day: Shuffle...shuffle...shuffle...this has totally not worked. I did so well the first couple of weeks, then it slide off. Ugh. I did get my bike back from the shop last weekend and have been going out this week training for my duathlon in June. Sadly, the days I'm not riding, I'm not exercising. Must...work....on...this...
4. Reduced Intake of French Fries: This has been a pretty good success actually. I haven't completely given them up (which wasn't the point of this resolution), but I have reduced the times I order food that comes with them. I've had more salads and pasta rather than sandwiches that would automatically come with fries. See, if it comes with it, the willpower to tell them no is not there. So, I can say I've had fries a hand full of times since Lent began. Not too shabby for a quasi-Lenten resolution.
And on a positive note, what I have accomplished with these resolutions have helped me lose 6.2 pounds since Ash Wednesday. I'm very happy with that. Hopefully, by the end of Lent I'll be down a total of 10 pounds (I had hoped for 12, but eh. It is what it is.). So, while this Lent hasn't been 100% successful so far, it's not turning out too badly. :-)
