Montreal

Wow. With all the natural disasters happening around here I totally forgot to share the funness of my trip to Montreal last month.  You know all about my 5 mile run.  But, what else is there to Montreal?  Plenty!

I think one of my favorite parts of Montreal was Old Montreal.  Sure, it's a boring name, but it's a really cool area of the city.  It does remind me of Europe (as my Ottawan friend said it would), with the way the streets were laid out, the architecture, and the streets.  I could have spent the entire trip there! LOL!
We headed to Mount Royal for a summer Sunday tradition, the Tam-Tam Jams.  I will say, it was a warm hot day and walking uphill to it was tiring.  But, once there, we found ourselves a seat on the grass and just chilled.  It was interesting people watching, that's for sure!
After the Tam-Tam Jams, we said farewell to our Ottawa friend (who we met in Italy) and went back to Old Montreal for food.  We had our first taste of poutine ~ is a dish of french fries, fresh cheese curds, and sometimes additional ingredients, covered with brown gravy or sauce. It was very tasty and reminded us of disco fries.

From dinner, we headed off in search of desserts, which took us about 10 feet down the street to Maple Delights

We had visited earlier in the day, but decided to get some snacks there for dessert.  Good choice.  Hubby and our friend went with maple ice cream, I went with pastries.
Our first day was a success!

  1. It looks like you had a great time! I love people watching! Do you think people are ever people watching and think you are weird? That never dawned on me until last weekend when I was people watching. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I could appear odd someone? LOL!

  3. They were good, but the ones we had later in the trip were better. The key to a good poutine (according to our tastes) is gravy. These didn't have much and were a little dry. The ones we had a night or two later? Covered in gravy and oh so tasty!!
