Summer Heat

This is me these days.  The temps here in the Mid-Atlantic have gotten in the high 90s and I'm not handling it well.  I hate the heat.  I've never liked the summer temperatures and now that we've hit some doozies, I'm all for staying in-doors, but that's impossible.

I work in an Archives, which regulates the temperature and humidity to protect the documents.  I work mostly on the 15th floor of our tower.  Each floor has a temperature/humidity reader.  My floor the last few days has been 72-73 degrees, with humidity ranging from 62-55.  Sounds lovely if you're sitting around doing computer work, research, watching a ball game.  But, when you're lugging 40-50 pound boxes off shelves, then putting them back it gets hot.  I was sweating at work yesterday.  Not cool.

And this weekend?  It's supposed to be 92 both Saturday and Sunday in Baltimore, where we will be.  Hubby is running the Dreaded Druid Hills 10k (sorry!) and I'm volunteering, then Sunday I'm running the Baltimore Women's Classic 5k.  Why is it always hot this weekend????

I need it to calm down temperature wise just a little because I'm having a real tough time getting my workouts in.  Ugh.  That Spartan Sprint in three weeks!!! isn't going to run itself.

  1. Take that picture - give it some curly hair, chub it up a little and make the face bright red and you've got me!

I'm with you on this one - the heat STINKS!

Good luck this weekend with all of your runs. HYDRATE! and eat a donut for me!

  2. Running in the heat is not all it's cracked up to be. LOL! It was hot! But, I ran and that's what counts.

  3. I am so with you! Heat just kills me. When the temp hits the mid 80's I feel like I'm going to burst into flames when I'm running. Not cool!

  4. Tracy, yes! Personally, I don't like running in temps higher than 70, but I'm a weirdo. LOL! I'm just a a cold weather kinda gal.
