Well, I did it again. I ran today. I wanted to run on Tuesday, rather than Monday honestly, but the weather people are claiming 100% chance of rain tomorrow. Ummm...while I'm not 100% sure they are correct, why take chances? So, I headed out this morning for a 1.5 mile run.
I took the same route I took on Saturday basically. There is a nice neighborhood not too far away with sidewalks that I run at, because I'm too chicken to run on streets without them. I did a little stretching before heading out...trying to get better at that both pre- and post-run. Headed out and felt a tiny twinge again. Not too bad, but there. Had me nervous for a little bit, then it went away.
This run was rough though. I don't know what it was, but I felt like I was running in molasses. You know the commercial where the swimmers jump off at a meet and land in caramel? Yea, that's kinda how I felt. I felt like I was in slow motion, especially compared to Saturday morning. I don't know why though. I really wanted to stop a couple times because I just felt so darn slow, but I was like that's just being a wimp. 1.5 miles isn't that far. So, I kept at it and finished off at 1.5 miles.
Ironically, it turns out, as much as I felt like I was going at a snail's pace, I ran faster today than Saturday. Strange...I finished the run at almost a minute faster than last time. I'm glad I didn't stop since the slowness was all in my mind.
The goal for the rest of the week is to run Thursday for another 1.5 miles (hopefully without feeling like I'm running in caramel or molasses) and then a 2 to 2.5 mile run Saturday morning. If I can keep adding about a mile every week, I should be able to run the entire Disney Princess Half Marathon. Should...
GOOD FOR YOU! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! I'm trying to do something I never thought I could do. With a little (alright, a LOT) of support from my friends, I think I can do it. If nothing else, I get a trip to Disney!
