One month from yesterday (Because I lost track of dates)
One month from yesterday, March 18th, I will be crossing the finish line at the Anthem Half Marathon part of the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon weekend and receiving the above medal. Not only is it a medal, but it is a bottle opener and has a lovely Shamrock charm. They think big down there at Virginia Beach!
Oh and did I mention, I will also be receiving a hat and this
Because it's the 40th anniversary of the race, they decided to do something special. Usually they give a finisher t-shirt, so this year they upped the ante and are giving out sweat shirts. Sweet! I have never heard of a race that gives so much away to the runners. So looking forward to rocking it all!
Yesterday I got in a 9.5 mile run. Felt good. These long runs (over 5 miles) always have me dreading them. I know why. It takes me forever to run them. Most people could run their 9.5 miles much faster than my two hours and eleven minutes. It takes me an entire morning to get them in. But, I know they are important. And as much as I dread them, I know they are important. I know they are necessary. So I run them. I spend hours on the road, but I run them.
So less than 30 days from now I'll have crossed the finish line and enjoying the post-race party on the beach. It'll be a great day!
