Motivational Monday

You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep rereading the last one.

Being a huge fan of reading, this quote seemed appropriate. It's true, it's hard to move forward if all you keep doing is looking backward - back at your mistakes, back at your missteps, back at your wrong decisions. The more you (and I really mean I) keeping looking back at all the times you (I) didn't meet a goal, run that race, hit a time, or just feel like you let yourself (myself) down, you can't move onward.

I need to remember this. A mistake does not define me as a person, it is a learning experience. I've learned a ton of stuff in the last few years. I've academically learned enough to be awarded an MA in American Studies. I've learned how to clean historical documents. I've run my first (and 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and soon to be 5th) half marathons. I've realized I'm not a good hot weather runner and should avoid it at all costs.

Of course, I have lots of lessons still to learn. I have to learn to give myself a break in terms of my weight. I have to remember that I'm good at my job. I have to remember that even a bad workout is better than no workout. I have to remember (this will sound pathetic) that people like me and that I have friends who care about me. If I can close the chapter on my doubts, I am sure the next chapter will bring untold joy and happiness?

What chapter in your life would you like to be able to close? What do you want the next chapter in your life to be about?

    1. Yea. I hear ya! It's sometimes hard to get out of the comfort zone and take that chance. I know that's where I am. I know what I want to do and how to do it, it's just throwing off the shackles of scaredness and doing it!

  2. Last year I felt really stuck and a major decision was needed. Luckily all turn out perfect and 2013 seems to be the year of many great changes. My biggest lesson I had to learn is patience.
