First stumbling block

I have been on my 40 pound challenge for all of three days (Thursday was day three). And it took exactly three days to have a bad day. And I mean BAD. I was good at breakfast and lunch. On my way home from work, I realized I was getting hungry. I've been having a small snack (carrots & humus, Cliff Bar, etc.) between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. all week and by 5:30 p.m., I was hungry!

When I got home, hubby's car was gone. Hmmmm...Checked phone, text saying he went to the gym. Ugh. Came in the house and ate. And ate. And ate. Here's what I had:

Mini Reeces Peanut Butter Cups

Then hubby came home and we ate dinner. Yup. I ate dinner after all that. We had lite hot dogs on lite rolls, with pretzels. I should have made a healthy dinner. I had one in mind. We grabbed frozen fish at the grocery store with a tomato sauce that I thought I could do up, with spaghetti squash and veggies. But, after eating all the above, eh. Oh, did I mention the two cups of Corn Pops? Yea...

So, in the past I would let this go on for a week or maybe two. Or in the case of last year, about 8 months. But, I am working on a new me. I do not want this pattern to continue, so I vow to make tomorrow better. I will eat healthy. It's Friday and I work all day, so I generally don't hit the gym so nothing new there, but I can eat better tomorrow than I did today (it would actually be really hard not to). I can start again. I can make today a one-off rather than a month-off.

I'm not perfect. I stumble way more than I walk straight. And for the first time I want to fully acknowledge this. Here's to a healthy Friday!

Do you have a day where you just eat crap? How long does it take you to get back on track?

  1. Yes everyday! Just don't limit those things from your plan or else you'll rebel and eat them all! Reward yourself every other day or with a small piece each day. That way you won't feel like a teenagers being locked in the house and escape through the window when your parents go to sleep!!

  2. Nope! I don't want to cut things out altogether. I want to do an 80/20 thing where I CAN have those things, just in moderation. Sadly, last night was not moderation.

Onward and upwards! I just finished a healthy breakfast (Weight Watchers Egg & Cheese scramble with potatoes, coffee with soy milk, banana, and Cherry Nutrigrain bar). Hubby packed me a healthy lunch (1/2 turkey & cheese sandwich, carrots, & fruit salad). Just have to get through dinner tonight! :)

  3. I have one of those nights (or at times whole days) about once every two weeks. Don't beat yourself up for one evening. As you change your diet you are going to end up having cravings for the things you are cutting out and/or limiting, and once you get started on them it's very hard to stop. The thing is, you get up this morning, have a healthy breakfast, a healthy lunch and a healthy dinner with the right snacks in between and you go on. One night will not throw everything else you are doing out of balance. Keep going! You will do great!

    1. Thank you for your words. It is good to hear I am not the only one who struggles this way. Hearing someone else dealing with the same issue makes me think it is possible to overcome it!

  4. Don't beat yourself up. I actually just read in a magazine that people who give in to their cravings every now and then actually lose more weight in the long run. And besides...if no one saw you eat it, did it really happen? LOL!

PS - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new blog design! Much easier to read!

    1. It is easier to read. Is it too girlie? I like it, but I wish the colors were a little different. Maybe I'm just weird?
