Running in the cold

Out again today for a run.  I need to continue this running thing because the Disney Princess Half Marathon really seems like it's reality.  Hotel was booked yesterday.  So, now we have registration paid and a place to sleep.

So, off I went this morning in 30 degree temps to run my 2.5 miles.  I know it sounds pathetically short compared to the 13.1 miles I need by 2.27.11, but I am working on it!  I had on my cold weather shirt, a jacket, running hat and gloves.  It's a tad chilly out there these days!

And on all fronts, it was a successful run!  I stayed warm (maybe a tad too warm at times) and I ran the whole 2.5 miles without any pain.  It was lovely.  Especially after Saturday's shortened run due to knee pain.  I was so excited.  I'm chalking up the better run today to A. more movement yesterday (shopping, so walking a bunch and doing a Wii Active cardio workout) and B. lots of stretching this morning.  I was a tad nervous when I hit mile 2 when I realized I hadn't taken my ibuprofen and forgot my knee brace, but it all worked out.  Phew!

And now, I'm all signed up to run the Jingle Bell 5k this Sat.  It worked out perfectly since this Sat. was my 3 to 3.5 mile bump up.  I usually try to aim for the higher end of the two goals, but I'm ok with it being only 3.1 miles since it's a race.  But, wow, perfect timing!  Won't be setting any records or anything, but it'll be good to get out and run.  And I love the little jingle bells they give you for your shoes!  :-)  Ahhh...the little things in life...
