TGIF!

Hello all! Happy Friday! It's been one heck of a week around these parts!

Last Thursday I was rear-ended coming home from a veternarian's appointment with my Lizzie.

She's having teeth issues and had a follow up. We're fighting not having her teeth removed, so far the meds are working. Anyway... I was rear-ended by a van and have been dealing with the insurance company {who honestly have been exceedingly easy and kind to work with - yes, I know. Good insurance people do exist}. While Thursday night I didn't think the car was totaled, Monday came and with it the news from the service people that it indeed was.
The extent of my injuries were a couple bruises. Lizzie was completely fine. Thank heavens!
So, this week has been working with the insurance company on compensation and finding a new car. Still waiting to hear back from our loan people about the pay-off on the car, but once that happens, off I go to pick up a new one. As quickly as possible. This sharing a car is rough!

Tuesday, I was selected in the Broad Street Run 10 miler lottery. Surprised the living daylights out of me, but there it is. I entered because it's the perfect accountability for The Wild Half Half Marathon I'm running two weeks later. I'm looking forward to it. Hubby ran it in 2010 and I think it's a great race...especially now that there are medals. ;-)

Lent began on Wednesday and I decided on my Lenten sacrifices:
  1. No sweets - cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, frozen yogurt {allergic to ice cream}, creme brule, etc.
  2. No soda
  3. I re-joined WW in the hopes that by sticking with it I will have good habits in place by Easter.
  4. Daily devotional. I'm not great at remembering, but I do catch up on each day's even if it's not read that day.
There you have it. My week in a nutshell. It's been crazy and I'll be honest, not one {referring to the car accident} I would like to do anytime soon! The positive is, I'm fine, Lizzie's fine, and this should be behind us come next week. When I pick out and purchase my next car, I'll let you know!

Have a great Friday and weekend friends! Make it count!

Friday Weigh and Check In - January 9, 2015

Hello! How are you? How was the first week of 2015 for you? Mine did not go as planned. Then again, when does life go as planned, right?

Last Saturday hubby and I spent several hours working on cleaning out our weight room/gym. It had become a catch all for a year and wow was it messy! My goal was to clean it out so I can drop my gym membership. We have a weight bench, treadmill, elliptical, and Nordik Track, plus a few smaller things in there. It is a good home gym. Unfortunately, I spent too much time and it bothered my back. I have back issues and it has been hurting me all week.

With my back bothering me and knowing what it means, I have been very hesitant to follow my workout plan. I am afraid of making it worse. So, workouts this week have not happened as scheduled:

1. Monday - Kettlebell Workout {no}
2. Tuesday - 2 mile run {no}
3. Wednesday - Bootcamp Workout {no}; 40 minute stationary bike/upper body weights
4. Thursday - 2 mile run {no}
5. Friday - Stretches

And with all this back pain and nervousness I ate my feelings. I had planned out the week's dinners in advance, which was awesome!

1. Veggie chili - Out to dinner at Arooga's {Potato soup/Half Caesar salad}
2. Cheese quesadilla with salsa
3. Turkey Meatloaf
4. Veggie chili
5. Veggie lasagna

I realized Monday I forgot to get the base mix for the chili, then hubby wanted to go out for new running sneakers. It was easier to eat out at 8:00 p.m. than to come home and eat dinner at 9:30 p.m.

But, in between meals I ate whatever I could find - candy, cookies, chips, crackers, etc. If it was here, I ate it. I knew I shouldn't, but I couldn't stop myself. Really disappointed I did that. But, there is nothing I can do about it now. I did it, I own it, I'm putting it behind me.

So, how did the week work out? Believe it or not, I lost 2.6 pounds this week. I'm a bit shocked by this. I'm not sure if it's accurate or not, but I'm gonna take it because it makes me feel good about myself. LOL!

I had a couple other goals this week - laundry, clean off the photos/documents from my old laptop and put on the external hard drive, download my Eastern State Penitentiary photos, start editing the ESP photos. Haven't done a single one. Blaming it on my back. I have been so low about it that I haven't done anything but putz around.

I need to get over this. I may be in a bit of pain, but there are things I can do. I've got to do them. I can still do something today and I have until next Wednesday before I'm back at work. I can get some of this done before then.

Goal: 50 pounds
Weight Loss/Gain: -2.6 pounds
Total: -2.6 pounds
To Go: 47.4 pounds

 How did the first week of January 2015 go for you? Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with it? Are you taking steps to correct any missteps?

Five Things Friday

Here we are again...5 Things Friday. I'm sure it's what you're waited for all week! LOL!

1. In my whole life, I have only not had a pet for about two years, just after my Shetland Sheepdog Fluffy passed away. When I was born we had a large dog named Panda Bear Bruce Spruce, then a black outdoor cat named Cinder. For a few years we had a husky named Nikita and when we gave him away, we adopted a Shetland Sheepdog named Fluffy. A friend of my mom's passed away and we inherited her cat George. After Fluffy passed, I didn't want another pet, it was too painful. Then I adopted Higgy and Pooka. When they were eight, hubby and I adopted Elizabeth. When Pooka passed away in 2013, we adopted Domo and Strax.

2. I do not eat chicken, ham, steak, pork, or mushrooms. When I was a child, my mother ate chicken almost every meal for a month. I decided when I was old enough to not eat it again. It's been years since I've had it. Ham and pork are too salty for me. I feel like all I'm eating is salt. I used to eat steak, but one too many bites into gristle made me not like it anymore. Mushrooms = fungus. Yea...no.

3. My dad was in the Army and the Coast Guard. He was 14 years older than my mom and was a stay-at-home dad. It was an unusual up-bringing. LOL!

4. I have three favorite Disney characters - Cinderella, Eeyore, and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. I realized they are all blue. Odd?

5. I used to watch M*A*S*H* and Hogan's Hero's with my parents as a kid and they are still some of my all-time favorite t.v. shows.

What's something interesting about you? :-)

5 Things Friday

I thought this might be fun to try.  Let's see how it goes! Feel free to share 5 things about you!

1. I went to Catholic school for 12 years - Most Holy Redeemer {1-8} and Gloucester Catholic High School.

2. The church I was married in {Most Holy Redeemer} and my reception hall {Woodbury Country Club} no longer exist.

3. I still use the same alarm clock my college roommate bought me for Christmas one year. Thanks Nicole!

4. I have always had pets, except for about two years when I was in college. We had to put my Fluffy {Shetland Sheepdog} down and I couldn't handle it. About two years later I was desperate for a pet, enter Higgenbaffum and Pooka.

5. I've only had one broken bone - the small toe on my right foot. Broke it trying to jump over a box and caught it on the flap. Ouch!
