Tuesday was filled with all sorts of stuff. I had a great run AND went out for dinner. Let's start with food, as I always start with food. :-)
I woke up WAY later than I meant to. I normally get up about 9:30 a.m., but I didn't get up until after 10:00 a.m. Oops! Because I was up so late, I saw no point in eating breakfast since I would be having lunch shortly. Probably not the smartest move, but it's the decision I came to. Lunch was good. I had another cheese and veggie filled wrap for lunch. So good! So sad the cheese is gone now. :-( For dessert I had a banana. I thought about having soup, but I decided I just didn't want it. The big obstacle in food consumption involved dinner out. My hubby's parents wanted to see us before we headed out on vacation, so asked to have dinner. We headed out to TGIFriday's, which I might say has a very limited healthy entree menu. I think the food options have gotten better at Friday's, but they aren't great when it comes to healthy foods. I ended up with the Cedar-Seared Salmon Pasta, which was very very good. It was part of their Right Portion menu. I ate half of it - one piece of salmon and half the pasta. Once home, I saw it was 10 points for the whole thing, so not too bad at 5 points for half. I also had one nacho. No idea what the point value on that was. I tried looking it up, but nothing. When we got home, I tried the WW White Chocolate Peppermind Smoothie with milk. I will say, the taste itself wasn't bad, but I would recommend blending it with ice for optimal taste. And that's it. I didn't quite make my veggie/fruit intake, nor drink all my water, but I was on points WITH going out to dinner.
Exercise worked out well actually, as you can tell from the title of today's post. I went to the park that's just up the street rather than using the treadmill or going to the further park. I haven't been to Shelley Park since June. I was thinking two laps, maybe a third, but I wasn't going to be upset no matter how many laps I ran. I headed out with my Avril Laveigne CD playing and had a GREAT run. I hit the halfway mark on the first mile at 5:51, which is what I was doing at Couslor. I was stoked! I've never run under 6 minutes at Shelley for 1/2 mile. At that point, I figured I was going to PR at Shelley. I wasn't going to PR overall, because Shelley is killer due to hills, but I just knew I was going to have a good run. I got up the steep hill, ran around the baseball field and hit the home stretch. When I got to the end, I stopped. Yes, only one mile, but it was a mile at 12:41 - a whole 54 seconds faster than the last time I ran at Shelley. Woohoo! I recognized I should have kept going, so when I came home, I did an additional 20 minutes on my exercise bike. But I was THRILLED with my one mile. :-)

Off we go!
After Sunday, Monday needed to be good. I had to eat well and exercise. I need to lose 1 pound this week, I would be thrilled if it's more, but I'll be thrilled with one.
I did well on food and on my goals for the week. I had a much larger breakfast than usual - cereal with milk and a banana. Which is HUGE for me. I usually only have a bowl of dry cereal for breakfast, so having the milk and fruit is shocking. I also had a cup of apple tea, but that doesn't do much for ya. ;-) Lunch was really good. I took a flat out wrap, spread a lite herb and garlic cheese spread on the wrap, then loaded it with carrots, red and green peppers. Toasted it and oh was it good! I also had a bowl of Progressive Vegetable Soup for no points and finished it all off with a serving of dried cherries. Dinner turned out to be a chili mix we bought over the weekend. Made it as it called for in the directions, and was good, but I know next time we'll add veggies and some additional seasonings. Also made myself some garlic bread with the deli flats from Pepperidge Farms. Unfortunately, I had more points at the end of the day than I wanted. I ended the day with a serving of applesauce and a serving of Krunchers chips. I didn't want to have the chips at the end of the day, but I had too many points left over NOT to have something. Even with that, I had 3 points left.
Exercise did not go as well. It didn't go at all actually. I should have done the Wii, but I didn't. I could have jumped on the treadmill for a quick 30 minute run, but I didn't. Ah well. I ate well and that's something. I'm not going to beat myself up over not exercising. I beat myself up enough over things and I need to stop. I need to recognize I am doing the best I can and move forward. And if I didn't do the best I can, then I need to pick it up, learn from my mistake, and not do it again. Because as Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day."

The Weekend
Ahhh...the weekend. A time of relaxation, a chance to sleep in, and just have a nice time. And for me, to slip completely off my healthy eating habits. Ugh. Friday was fine until we went out to dinner and had the appetizer and two beers. I had a light beer, which is good, but hubby wanted an appetizer, so we got one. :-( Ate half a quesadilla and then half the margharita pizza I ordered. The pizza was really good, for the record.
Saturday, I actually did well. Had my great run Sat. morning and then a breakfast of donuts. Then we grabbed dinner at Isaac's as we were running errands Sat. afternoon/evening. When all was said and done, I was on points for Sat.
Sunday was a disaster! It always is when I'm completely out of my comfort zone. When I have to make decisions on the fly, I don't do so hot. We went to the Philadelphia Eagles game in Philly and ate out all day. Ugh. Had a bagel with a delicious spinach and artichoke cheese spread for breakfast and a beer. After the game, grabbed some bread and more of the cheese spread. On the way home, stopped at WaWa (ahhhh....WaWa....) and had a bag of TGIFriday's Mozzerella Sticks (I didn't eat the whole bag. That's got to count for something, right???) with a cup of pre-made iced coffee. Now, in my defense, the last time I got iced coffee from WaWa, it was just coffee and I added my own milk and sugar. This time it was mixed and I didn't know that until AFTER I poured my cup. When we got home, we reheated our pizza from Friday and we were done. Ugh. But I KNOW the damage was done as well. Weekends suck. :-(
________________________________________________________________
I do have a plan for the week. Hopefully the plan will help me get back on track. I have given up sweets until Friday. No cookies, pie, cake, brownies, candy, etc. I snack too much lately and I decided I need to cut back. So, for now, no more sweets. It may continue until vacation, but right now it's til Friady.
I am so trying to consume more of my points during the day and leave less points after dinner. I generally eat very little during the day so I can make sure I have enough points at dinner for dinner and dessert. So, today, I am working on eating more during the day, so I have less points for snacks at night.
And third, I'm trying to work in more fruits and veggies again. I think I did really well when I was concentrating on them more than lately, so I'm working on upping my consumption. If I eat fruits and veggies, I get more food and better filling foods. Right now, as I type, applesauce is being made in my crock pot. A nice after dinner dessert. :-)
Those are my goals for the week. Hopefully they will help make a dent in my freaking 30 pound weight-loss goal!

Woohoo Run!
Saturday mornings, unless occupied, are running mornings. This morning I had no desire to get up. It's kinda gloomy out, the bed was warm, I had a kitten. Yea, I didn't want to get out of bed. But, I dragged my lazy butt up and got out of bed. Put on my running gear and with hubby, headed off to the park for a run. I had a feeling it was going to be a bad one. I didn't feel great this morning, so I wasn't sure how long I would last before it caught up to me and I had to stop.
Hit the trail and felt really good. Well, as good as I'm going to feel because honestly, I wasn't feeling a run this morning. Hit the first 1/4 mile marker and was thrilled when the watch said 2:41, that ties my best 1/4 mile time. I was kinda shocked. Kept trucking along and hit the 1/2 mile marker and checked the watch again, this time 5:51 - THE BEST HALF MILE TIME EVER! I was getting excited. I had a shot at have a one mile PR. With that in mind, I kept running. I checked the 3/4 mile marker and I was 8:53, well below my normal 9 minute and some time. This could happen. I booked and pushed myself to the one mile marker. And it freaking paid off! I hit the one mile marker at 11:50!!! My personal best! So excited and happy about that! I had a small goal of getting below 12 minutes before going on vacation and I did it!
And that was just the beginning of a good run. My 2 mile time was the best I've had at the park at 28:22. My three mile time was the best at the park at 45:01 (stupid one second). I had what I thought was a decent 4 mile time at 1:02:something. LOL! I was so thrilled to see 1:02 that I kinda forgot to look further. I had high hopes of hitting 1:15:00 and chopping 2 minutes and 20 seconds off my previous 5 mile run. So, thinking I stood a shot, I booked it! I didn't look at the first mile marker and just concentrated on running hard. When I hit the last marker telling me I'd run 5 miles I stopped my watch and just breathed. I knew I did good. I headed back to meet the hubby and checked my watch - 1:12:11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Five minutes and 10 seconds better than my last 5 miles! What a run today! I know every run can't be like this, and I'm ok with that. I'm just happy today was THAT day. :-)

Ugh
I like my scale at home. My scale at home had been stuck at the same weight on the home scale for weeks, but today I was down...2.5 pounds down. I was thrilled! While my scale and the one at WW isn't the same, if I loose at home, I loose at WW. Apparently, that's not working anymore. I was down .6 at WW today. :-(
So very frustrating. I've been basically knocking on the door of 30 pounds for about a month. Right now I am a pound away from it. I am so freaking close, but not there. My goal in January was 30 pounds by July 23rd. It is now Sept. 24 and I am STILL not at 30 pounds down. WTH???
Oh and let's not talk about my 12 pounds by Oct. 8th goal. That's completely fantasy at this point. I am only down 6 pounds of the 12 pounds. Seriously, what the hell is wrong? Why can't I get there? I was at this point to my goal at the end of Aug. and then something went drastically wrong. So frustrated.

Oh so close...
One day til the weekend. Thursdays are wonderful things. I kinda compare them to Junior year in HS/college. Just one more day/year until the day/year you've been waiting FOREVER for. :-) Hubby doesn't think my analogy is valid. Eh. Whatever.
Spent my day working on my M.A. thesis. And I remembered that I have a hard time concentrating on writing and not eating. I was fine at breakfast, had a bowl of blueberry cereal. My go-to breakfast. At 11:00 a.m., I started drinking water (a whole hour earlier than usual) and my thesis. Lunch was simple. I had my apple with cheese toasted and two slices of toast with peanut butter. I forgot how good toast with peanut butter is. How can you forget something like that? But, I digress...I struggled this afternoon with snacks. Had WAY too many. I finally got myself under control about 3:00 p.m. and did well until dinner. We had NO idea what to do for dinner tonight, so we did Special K low-fat waffles. LOL! And then I had a fun dessert - sugar-free angel food cake with lite vanilla ice cream, Readi-Whip, and a handful of chocolate chips. Yum! And surprisingly filling. Who knew? I could use a salty snack though...
Today is running day and it didn't go so well. I didn't feel like going to the park today, so I jumped on the treadmill. I was NOT feeling it today. Nope, nada, nothing. I got through 25 minutes, which is 15 minutes less than Tuesday. This made me sad, but I just could not eak out another minute. After I came back to the living room, I felt so bad about this, that I grabbed my little exercise bike and did 20 minutes on that. I know it wasn't running, but it at least it was something. Then did a tad bit of weights, which I haven't done in ages. Well...Monday.
Tomorrow is weigh-in day. Keep your fingers crossed I have a loss. I am getting discouraged right now and could use one.

Middleness
Middle of the week, which is always nice. Means there are only a couple days til the weekend (and WI). Though Wednesdays are generally boring.
Had an eh day. Hoping that doesn't kill me. Breakfast of Special K Blueberry cereal, as always. Lunch was simple. A nice veggie burger on a lite roll with reduced-fat cheese. I also had Kraft Mac 'n Cheese chips. They are ok, not great. But, I was kinda tired of everything we had, so I went with these. Dinner was where I may have gone wrong. I had a meeting tonight at a restaurant. I checked the menu ahead of time and decided on either a turkey wrap or a Caribbean Salmon wrap. I thought, I would give myself options when I got there. I went with the Caribbean Salmon wrap, which I anticipated being a piece of salmon in a wrap with the roasted red pepper and mango. I was kinda right. Rather than salmon filet, it was more like tuna and was mixed with something. It was good, but I don't think it was as healthy as I thought it was based on the description. Then I came home and ate a few too many licorice allsorts. They are so yummy! Hence why I shouldn't be eating them. LOL!
No exercise. I should have used the Wii, but I didn't. I was working on my thesis, then it was time to get ready to go. Oops. I'll get back into the Wii habit. Just taking longer than I thought it would.

Continuing on
Tuesday. Always a boring day. Eh.
Had a good day today. Started the day off with half a blueberry bagel and a cup of coffee. Love blueberry bagels! Lunch was small. I just had a bowl of cereal with milk. But the cereal was AWESOME! It was a Kashi Oat Flake and Blueberry Cluster sample I had requested and oh man! Delicious! I've been addicted to Special K's Blueberry Cereal for about a year and I will so work this into the rotation. So good! The flakes had amazing flavor. It's a tad higher in points than the Special K (3 points v. 2 points), but very worth it. Had a meeting at school tonight, so when I came home we just made quesadillas for dinner. They were very tasty! Had a nice dessert of Nilla wafers and a 100-Calorie Oreo cookie cake thingie. It was good. Small, but good.
Food was on track today. And today was running day. My problem came in that I had a meeting at school at 5:00 p.m. The drive to school is 30 minutes, plus the meeting time, then 30 minutes home. So, I didn't think I would get to the park like I normally do at night, so I jumped on the treadmill and ran there today. And today I extended my time to 40 minutes! Woohoo! That's NEVER happened before. The best I've done is 36 minutes, so I'm very happy with my run today. I have another run coming up on Thursday. Home or treadmill? Decisions, decisions...

Start of a new week
It's Monday. The first day of the new week and time to get back on track. I had a good Sunday - ate within my points and had a run. Today, was a new day and needed to stay consistent. Stay within points.
Got up this morning and had my cereal. Yum! Had a nice cup of coffee with it as well. Lunch was awesome...again. I toasted an apple with reduced-fat cheese until the cheese melts. Yum! As well as some carrots. A nice snack of dried cranberries and apples was a tad healthier than my normal three Hershey Kisses. ;-) Dinner was impressive...for me. Hubby grilled up salmon burgers on lite rolls and a smidge of Caesar dressing. We also had tator tots and broccoli with cheese. I was pretty impressed we could pull that off! And it was good.
No exercise. :-( I was going to use the Wii, but it didn't happen. We made a big dinner and I never did the Wii. I'll blame it on running the 5k yesterday. LOL! Cause we all know that's why I didn't do the Wii today.
Overall, not a bad day. Gotta keep that going until Friday.

Baltimore and the Fort McHenry 5k Tunnel Run
Sunday afternoon. It's been a BUSY weekend! We spent Sat. and Sun. in Baltimore because we were running in the first (annual) Fort McHenry 5k Tunnel Run. We chose to run it because it's different, you run through a tunnel on I-95. :-)
Saturday we headed down to packet pick-up outside the city. The packet wasn't that exciting - t-shirt, a body cream, and some coupons/news on other events/etc. From packet pick-up, we headed to the hotel to check in. It is freaking gorgeous! I loved it!! Checked in and got to our room which was beautiful. And I have fallen in love with the end table they had next to the chair in the room. Swoon! I want one now.

After we got in, we called our friend and made plans to meet up later in the night for dinner. Then, we headed to the hotel bar for a quick drink and a snack. It was lovely. Everything about this place was fantastic!
Once done our drinks and snack, we headed to the Inner Harbor and just walked around. We've been there so much lately, that rather than look through the shops, we walked around the harbor. It was just a wonderful day temperature-wise that the walk was nice. Our walk brought us back to the Inner Harbor and met our friend for dinner at Pizzeria Uno. Had a yummy deep dish pizza. After dinner, we said good bye to our friend and headed back to the hotel. We grabbed a quick dessert at the hotel bar (cupcakes!), then headed to bed.
Got up this morning and got ready for the the Fort McHenry 5k Tunnel Run. Got to the race and it was a tad disorganized, but overall nice. There were 1,000 people who came out, which is double what the anticipated. I had a good run, even with the inclines! The race was through the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-95. From the start, you run downhill, then go back up to reach the halfway mark. Once past that, you go downhill until about mile 2, then back up in the incline til the finish. The start of the race was nice because the police cadets were behind me yelling cadence, which helped me run. I was doing fantastic! A nice 13 minute first mile, then I had a great mile two at 27:55, which is about a minute faster than my normal. I was pysched! I thought I would hit a 40 minute 5k, which would be a 5 minute time difference from June. Alas, it was not to be. I finished with a 44:15, nothing to sneeze at, but I was hoping to finish quicker. It was that darn incline from mile 2 that killed me!
So, here are some photos for ya from the race!

How did Friday go?
Well, Friday went well. For the first time in weeks, I didn't go crazy on a Friday night. I picked out what I was going to eat when we went out and stuck with it. :-)
I started the day off with double iced Butterscotch Krimpets, which while not 100% WW endorsed, can be worked in, if you work hard enough. ;-) But since I ate them so late, I only ended up with a snack of Reduced Fat Nilla wafers for lunch. *shrug* Then, we ran some errands after work and stopped at Isaac's Restuarant and Deli for dinner. I got a Larkspur - flat bread with muenster and cheddar cheeses, sprouts, spinach leaves, and tomatoe. Delish! I also had a Sonoma salad, which is my favorite salad in all the world! And I did all this within my points. Woohoo!
And I got in 2 miles on the treadmill. I was supposed to do it on Thursday and never did, so I jumped on the treadmill and got in two miles. I felt good too. Very surprised that I got off feeling like I did something right for a change. :-)
Tomorrow is the first ever Fort McHenry Tunnel Run 5k. Wish me luck!

Zero
Yup, that's right. I lost zero. I also didn't gain. Guess that's something, huh? I think I might have lost today except I decided to wear pants to weigh-in for the first time since...like...June. LOL! The temps this week have been cooler, so I grabbed the lightest pair of pants I own and off I went (oh, yea, with a top too!).
I suppose I shouldn't be upset with staying the same. I did eat horribly last Friday and Saturday and really concentrated on following the plan this week, so it apparently worked. From now on though, I will be basically wearing this outfit to weigh-in. I want to make sure I am consistent.
This weekend should be interesting. We are going to Baltimore for the Fort McHenry Tunnel Run 5k and having dinner with our friend. I have to be careful that I don't just overeat and justify it by saying I ran a 5k because in reality, I won't expend as much energy as I would consume with that mind-set.
And just to liven things up. I photo of my favorite pants from last winter. Sadness...

Thursday
Two posts in one day! Aren't you lucky! LOL! Actually, I decided to put Thursday's update today, so I can tell you all about my gain in the morning when I weigh in. I'd hate to one up that with a silly daily update.
It was an eh day. I didn't do too bad eating-wise today. Maybe one too many snacks, but overall, not too bad. I had my blueberry cereal this morning. Yum! And a nice cup of tea, it was gloomy. Lunch was awesome! I took a Granny Smith apple in quarters, covered each with a quarter of Reduced-Fat Colby Jack cheese, and toasted it in the toaster oven. Man! That was great! I am so excited because honestly, I was getting tired of my lunches lately. I did so well the last month or two, but I need something new. This was perfect. I then had more dried cranberry and apples. Yum! Dinner was take out - Sheetz. I had a turkey ciabatta with lettuce, tomato, onion, sweet peppers and pickles. So good! Dessert was just a piece of Hershey's dark chocolate and a 100 calorie Oreo bar from Little Debbie. I will admit, I think I snacked a little more than I should have. I had a couple cookies. Shhh! don't tell anyone!
Exercise was supposed to be a run, it never happened. I spent the bulk of my day cleaning the entry way, living room, and dining room of my house. Maybe that will count? Maybe? So, I may run tomorrow, I may not. We shall see. I have my race on Sunday and I don't want to tire my legs out too much before then. I would LOVE to run a better time than my first, but eh. Running the whole time and finishing is still what's most important.
Alrighty. I'll check ya out tomorrow when I tell you how much I gained this week. See ya then!

Hump Day
Wednesday. I used to love Wednesdays. It was the half-way point to the week. It was the first day towards the weekend. Now it doesn't seem to matter much. Ah well.
I had a good Wednesday. I ate very well Wednesday. I had a nice breakfast of my Special K Blueberry cereal, to which I have been addicted to for well over a year. It's sooo good! Highly recommend it. Lunch was a yummy tuna melt - half can of tuna in water, reduced-fat Provolone cheese, and Pepperidge Deli Flat Bread. Sooo yummy! I had carrots with it and finished it off with dried cranberries and apples. I was thrilled at how good the dried cranberries and apples were. A serving is a serving of fruit, which is lovely. It's not as big as I would like it to be (1/4 cup), but since the cranberries and apples are small, it's not too bad.
The test came at dinner. We had tickets to the York Revolutions last home game of the season last night. So, we ate at the game. I had a turkey burger and 5 french fries. They have awesome turkey burgers, so I get a burger with two pickels. So good! And since hubby got fries, I stole some. I meant to steal only three, but I ended up with 5. Oops! Guess it's better than getting my own thing of fries.
I also did the Wii Active Upper Body yesterday. I've been trying to do the Wii on days I'm not running. I did 25 minutes of that and an additional 5 minutes of some free weights that aren't part of the Wii routine. It worked out for me at least. Hoping it works out overall for me this week!

Tuesday Update
Yup, I am updating on a somewhat daily basis. LOL! It's helping keep me on track and since that's the WHOLE POINT OF THIS BLOG, you'll have to deal. ;-)
Yesterday was ok. I did get all my water in. Thank heavens! It was a struggle on Monday. I did have more fruits and veggies than the last two days, so that's a positive. I stayed within points...actually I was short one. I hate when I end up with an uneven number of points at the end of the day. So much of what I have is even points value. So, I had 5 points left after dinner and so much of what I have it 2 points. Ugh. Ah well. It's never a horrible thing to be one point under. I'm sure I've been over by one point at some point to even it out.
I went to the park last night to run. The goal was 4 miles. I'm easing down to the 5k I'm running this Sunday in Baltimore. I did 5 miles on Sunday, wanted 4 miles on Tuesday and 3 miles on Thursday, then the race Sunday. Well, the run didn't go as well as I hoped. I got to 2 miles and wanted to stop. But I somehow had to talk myself out of it. So, I turned around and ran back the way I came in the hopes of getting another mile in. I was just over 2 miles and my toe started to hurt (I have a nice bruise on the side of my foot just below my big toe). And my knee started bothering me. I gutted it out and got another mile in before I just kinda gave up. I figured I'm only running 3.1 on Sunday, if my runs Tuesday and Thursday reflect only that, then so be it. Hopefully Thursday's run will be better. Hopefully...
So, that was Tuesday. Today will be interesting as we have our last Indpendent League baseball game of the season tonight. I always get a turkey burger with 2 pickles. So good! And that's what I'll get tonight. Just have to be on points until we leave. I can do it!

Sunday/Monday
Well, I have done pretty well the past two days with staying on plan. I'm very happy about that. I exercised both Sunday and Monday (running 5 miles Sunday and 30 minutes arm weights on Monday between Wii Active and free weights). That's generally the hard part for me, getting in the exercise, as it's not my favorite thing to do. But I did it and I feel more motivated to keep up my exercise as the week goes on.
Food-wise, have done well too. :-) Very happy about that. Sundays are hit and miss with me and I can easily stray off track. But, I did well and did what I set out to do - ate healthy and drank my water. I didn't even have a drink during the two baseball games I watched - sometimes Sunday nights involve a drink with dinner. This week I kept to the plan. Yesterday, did great! I could have had a little more veggies, but I stayed on track with food and good on points. I was very happy about that.
The thing I need to work on is water. I did good on Sunday, but not Monday. I am focusing on that today. I have a good ole plastic cup of water sitting on the tray table for this afternoon. Should get in at least HALF of my water from it alone. I also had carrots (sans humus) at lunch and am working on an apple for dessert. I think I will have a slice of SF Angel Food Cake with a sliced banana for dessert after dinner, so more fruits. :-)
I really want a loss this week, so I have three more days to kick my butt and do what needs to be done. *nod*

Great Running News (a day late)
I am running in Al's Run 8k on October 8th in Milwaukee, WI. We are on vacation then, but since we are visiting friends who were already running it, we decided to join them. In order to do so, I would have to train to run it, since my furthest run had only been 3.25 miles. I have been working hard the last few weeks to get to 5 miles. This past Sunday I did it! I ran 5 miles at the park!! I was so excited! I had a plan and while I fell a little behind last week, I was still able to stay on track this week and do 4.5 laps = to 5 miles. Woohoo! I can run Al's Run! Now it's a matter of getting that 1:17:52 time down. :-)

Kick my ass
Yesterday, I was chatting with the hubby on the way to NJ to celebrate my mom's birthday (which is actually Tuesday, but we couldn't take the day off to drive 2.5 hours to visit on the actual day). We were talking about what people do to loose weight - try to lose too much in too short a time, eliminate whole food groups, following unhealthy diets, or joining weight loss programs that don't teach you how to eat. These things all frustrate me. None of these options are healthy, none of these options will lead you to long-term weight loss. You will loose weight, stop doing whatever it is you did to loose it, then gain. It's not sustainable. It's a quick fix. While doing any of the above (or any number of other strange diets), you don't learn to make healthy choices, you don't learn WHY you overate, you don't learn how to KEEP the weight off.
Then I realized, I've been no better than people who do these things to loose weight. I've been complaining the last several weeks that I've gained or not lost as much as I wanted. I have blamed the scales. I have been frustrated and resorted to actions that I lead me to gain the weight in the first place, then go angry that I didn't loose what I wanted. I am not even half-way to my Oct. 8th goal of 12 pounds. I have been shy of 30 pounds for about 6 weeks. And I'm angry that EVERYTHING is keeping me from meeting this goal (and my other ones), but recognizing MY part in it. I have been eating worse than I should have on the weekends. I have had a hard time getting back into the groove come Sunday (which is my day to get back on program) and sometimes even Monday and Tuesday. I have slouched on my exercise. Last week I barely did 6 miles. Uhhh, really??? What's up with that? I should have done 16! Is it any wonder I'm not at my goal? Is it any wonder I'm gaining? No. I say it now. I have been keeping me from my goals. I have stopped being so careful come Sunday. I have stopped exercising like I should.
So, what does this mean? This means I'm kicking my ass back into gear. This means I'm exercising this week. This means I'm eating on plan this week. This means I'm drinking my water this week. I am re-committed. So, here are some stats:
* My Oct. 8th goal is 12 pounds. I am 6.8 pounds away from that. I have 25 days to get there. I will need to lose 2 pounds a week to reach that goal.
* My Dec. 31 goal is 22.8 pounds (from where I am now). I have 3 months and 18 days to reach it. I will need to lose 1.4 pounds a week to reach the 22.8 pound loss. This will be a 51.2 pound weight loss this year.
I commit to the following this week:
1) Running 3 days (including today) for a total of 12 miles.
2) Working out on non-running days with the Wii Fit/Active or bike.
3) Eating 20 points a day.
4) Drink 64 oz. water a day.
I weigh in on Friday. Here's to a loss!

I should be happy...
Ugh. Today is really cold and wet. It's one of those "I don't want to get out of bed" days. It's dark, chilly, and the rain is coming down! It's kinda crazy actually.
Which makes getting up and going to WW all the harder to do. LOL! But, I got up, checked my scale (which said I was down) and headed into the crazy cold, rainy weather. I got there and weighed in and down .6 pounds. WAY less than what my scale at home said. Now, I know my scale and WW scale isn't equal, they never have been, BUT they have been fairly consistent in how much I have lost, even if the numbers don't match. Generally, my home scale is about 5 pounds less than the WW one, which is fine since I know that. What I like is that if I'm down a pound at home, I'm down about a pound at WW. This week was not the case. I was down 1.5 pounds at home, but only .6 at WW. I think it's the scale. When I weigh in on the scale on the left, it's closer to my home scale. When I weigh in on the scale on the right, it's higher. And the last two weeks I've weighed in on the scale on the right. Ugh.
I suppose I should focus on the fact that I'm down this week, but I just can't help but wonder if I would have been down more if I had weighed in on the scale on the left....

Mental Issues
I have a mental problem. I am having a hard time seeing myself as having lost weight. I generally see it when I look at photographs, but on a daily basis, I don't really see it. I look in the mirror and my face looks fat. I look in the full-length mirror in the bedroom and don't see a difference. Mentally, I still see myself 30 pounds heavier...or heaven forbid, 55 pounds heavier (what I was when I graduated college 10 years ago). I just can't shake the mental picture that I no longer look like I did then. I think a good many people who have lost weight (more than say 10 pounds) have this problem. It's hard to let go mentally what you have spent so much time building up in your head. Here are two photos that I can see obviously the differences, but it's hard to see them in the mirror as I'm brushing my teeth.

Seeing these two photos, I can see the difference...it's the day-to-day that kills me. And it's the day-to-day that I have to get through to continue with the weight-loss battle. Ugh.

:-(
It was a bad, dark Friday morning. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the weather was actually pretty nice for a early Sept. day in the Mid-Atlantic (I can't remember if you know where I live or not and if not, I don't think I want you to). And of course, being Friday, it was weigh-in day. My scale said I was about the same as last week, so I decided even after a crappy week, I would go in. Oh what a bad, dark Friday morning it was. I gained. And not just the little bit I was anticipating. I gained 1.8 pounds. Yes, almost 2 whole freaking pounds. :-( It truly was a bad, dark Friday.

It's been not so good
Ugh. Ever since Friday, I have been so off. Just horribly, horribly off. Friday night, we were going to do quesadillas, but we did not have enough tortilla shells. So, instead we ordered pizza and breadsticks...and had beer. It was delicious! I will say, we put veggies on the pizza at least.
Got up Saturday morning and ran 3.5 miles for the first time. It was in 1:02, but I ran slow to make sure I could do 3.5 miles. I was happy to do it! After wards, we hit DD for donuts and iced coffee. Tried the new Toffee for my Coffee donut cause I love toffee stuff. The donut, not so good. I wasn't thrilled and really wouldn't recommend it. We got home, showered and headed off to a wedding reception for my hubby's cousin. It was a low-key affair in their back yard. We grabbed a beer and I had a slice of very delicious wedding cake. And I mean that, very moist. We headed home and met up with our friend from NY to go to dinner. Dinner was a shared nachoes appetizer and a grilled cheese with fries and a beer for dinner. Ugh. Not great choices. But, that was about all I had on Saturday.
Sunday, was probably the worst. Had my bowl of cereal and a glass of OJ for breakfast. Then the three of us headed to Baltimore to catch the Orioles play. It was Dollar Dog and Dollar Soda day. I got a hot dog, which is unusual for me, but for a buck...Then I had a soft pretzel. It was tasty! After the game, we stopped at a place across from the park and had dinner. Had a beer, onion rings, and cajun tuna. I did skip the bread on the tuna and didn't eat all the onion rings. Neither were all that good. Then it was off for dessert at ESPNZone. We got there and I ordered a Rum Carrot Cake. I was so excited until they told me it had raisins. :-( No dessert for me. I watched with my White Russian while everyone had HUGE desserts. Once we got home I had a TastyKake Butterscotch Krimpet.
Monday wasn't great, but wasn't horrible. Tuesday, the same. I just can't seem to get myself back to eating healthy this week. What's wrong??? I do this ALL THE FREAKING TIME! I have a great week and I go off the deep end. I can't seem to just continue all the healthy things that got me to a loss. Ugh. I am probably going to skip going this week. I don't want to see the scale go up. I am finally getting back on track and I want to keep the momentum, rather than get upset seeing the gain. Hopefully I'm back to healthy eating habits. My exercise has been fine.
